Settling Dietary Differences
Apr 7th
They say a prophet is only despised in his own town and household (Jesus himself said it in Matthew 13:57). Often, the same treatment befalls a person who brings “good news” about a Biblical diet to the rest of family.
Facing resistance in the home regarding The Hallelujah Diet is just like bringing home any other kind of new information that is not widely accepted. For some strange reason, we can’t believe what our own family member says, but we’ll believe it when it comes from someone else.
As frustrating as this reality is, trying to fight it is a waste of time — especially when the information is about food and the family’s health is at stake.
So what do you do?
Just like presenting any other hard-to-fathom fact, get some back-up. Do some research online and support what you’re saying with documented, clinical evidence to support a plant-based diet (in effect, the information will be coming from “someone else”). Here are some great resources:
- Hallelujah Acres – We have a ton of information and links that support a plant-based diet.
- PubMed – This link provides public access to research reports.
- Google it! – Search terms like “plant-based health” and “vegan benefits”.
- Statement from American Dietetic Association – Even the “authorities” support a plant-based diet.
Another, more sneaky tactic is to start including more plant-based foods in the family’s menu and less of the bad stuff. This only works if you’re the one buying and making the food, however. Judy Fleming of Hallelujah Acres Canada did this and eventually convinced her whole family it was the way to go.
If nothing else works, sometimes all you can do is be the good example. Be true to yourself. Don’t compromise what you know to be true. Your perseverance will be respected even if your words are not.
Marked Increase in Children’s Constipation
Nov 2nd
A recent news release from John Hopkins Children’s Center reports a 30% increase in the number of doctor visits related to constipation in children between 2008-2009.
Experts attribute the problem to lack of physical activity, inadequate water intake and fiber-poor diets. Medically, constipation is defined as having fewer than 3 bowel movements a week for 3, not necessarily consecutive, months in a year.
Obviously, if a child is on The Hallelujah Diet, even less than 1 or 2 bowel movements would be considered constipation in terms of achieving optimal health.
Maria Oliva-Hemker, M.D., director of pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition at Hopkins Children’s says that the condition is easy to miss in young children, and its severity is often overlooked, which results in delayed treatment and worsening symptoms.
Constipation is one of the easiest symptoms to correct with diet and exercise. Lack of fiber in refined grains often leads to constipation, while choosing high fiber foods helps correct the problem. When a person switches from the nearly fiberless Standard American Diet to the fiber-rich Hallelujah Diet, a diet loaded with natural plant fiber, they usually see their constipation problems, as well as digestive and colon problems, disappear.

Want to have a baby? Relax.
Aug 12th
A new study has shown, for the first time, that stress levels affect a woman’s ability to conceive. Oxford University experts measured stress hormones in women planning a baby naturally and found the most stressed had a reduced chance of becoming pregnant.
Women with the highest levels of alpha-amylase (an indicator of adrenalin levels) had about a 12% reduced chance of getting pregnant during their fertile days that month compared with those with the lowest levels of the marker. Dr Cecilia Pyper, of the National Perinatal Epidemiology Unit at the University of Oxford, said, “The findings support the idea that couples should aim to stay as relaxed as they can about trying for a baby.”
We couldn’t agree more! Stress has a significant affect on health, which is why Hallelujah Acres promotes relaxation and meditation on God’s Word in addition to a plant-based diet, exercise, proper hydration, and plenty of sunshine.
