Veggie Variety Reduces Cancer Risk
Nov 30th
Getting into a rut, it seems, is ill-advised even when it comes to The Hallelujah Diet! A European study involving researchers from 10 countries has determined that lung cancer prevention can vary greatly depending on variety (not just quantity) of fruits and vegetables. In addition, this risk falls by a further 4 per cent for each unit added to the diet from another sub-group.
10 Things To Be Thankful For
Nov 25th
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, we invite you to stop and think about the 10 things you are most thankful for. Here’s some inspiration from Psychology Today’s website:
1. Be thankful for growing older. Not everyone gets this opportunity.
2. Be thankful that you can read these words. Many people do not have the ability to read.
3. If you have to wait in line at the supermarket for your Thanksgiving dinner, be thankful that you can afford what you want to eat and have a convenient place to buy it.
4. Be thankful for the ability to pay your bills, even if it means that you have to give up some things that you want.
5. If you have to get up before dawn to get to work, be thankful that you get to see another sunrise and have a job to go to.
6. When you’re stuck in traffic, be thankful you have a car to get where you need to go and money to buy gas.
7. When the kids are screaming at each other, be thankful that you have children to love and who love you, and remember that at least some of the time, they do get along.
8. When your mate is acting grumpy or giving you a hard time, be thankful for having love in your life and someone to grow old with. A life partner is something that less than half the population has.
9. When your parents are telling you how to run your life, be thankful that you still have them around. If they are no longer with you, take a moment to be thankful for the time you had with them.
10. When you sit down with your loved ones for your Thanksgiving dinner, be thankful for everyone and everything that makes it possible.
Happy Thanksgiving from AM & PM!
Study: Fruits & Veggies Extend Life
Nov 23rd
It appears as though the scientific community is reaffirming what plant-based diet advocates have said for years: fruits and veggies can save your life.
A news release published this week from the Journal of the American Medical Association declared that, “high blood levels of the antioxidant alpha-carotene appear to be associated with a reduced risk of dying…”
The release went on to explain that oxygen-related damage to DNA, proteins and fats may play a role in the development of chronic diseases like heart disease and cancer. Antioxidants available in plant foods, specifically carotenoids—including beta-carotene, alpha-carotene and lycopene—help counteract this damage.
Strangely enough, beta-carotene, possibly the most commonly known of the antioxidants, was not singled out as a contributing factor to better health. Rather, it was alpha-carotene.
“Alpha-carotene is chemically similar to beta-carotene but may be more effective at inhibiting the growth of cancer cells in the brain, liver and skin,” the report notes.
Consumption of yellow-orange (carrots, sweet potatoes or pumpkin and winter squash) and dark-green (broccoli, green beans, green peas, spinach, turnips greens, collards and leaf lettuce) vegetables, which have a high alpha-carotene content are suggested as the dietary winners.
So, if you’re already on The Hallelujah Diet — congratulations! You’re probably already eating (and juicing) a lot of these types of veggies and are well on your way to long, healthy life.
Counting Your Blessings Adds Up
Nov 18th
According to Robert Emmons of the University of California at Davis, people who journal the things they’re thankful for have fewer illness symptoms, feel better about their lives as a whole, and are more optimistic about the future.
The finding comes from a study of two groups of people. One group kept track of things they were thankful for. The other group described daily hassles. The thankful group felt better about their lives overall, were more optimistic about the future, and reported fewer health problems than the other participants.
A similar study of people keeping “gratitude journals” found that such people got more sleep, spent less time awake before falling asleep, and felt more refreshed in the morning.
In a related study, researchers at the University of Connecticut found that gratitude can even have a protective effect against heart attacks.
We all have challenges in our lives. How we react to those challenges measures our gratitude. Do things have to go your way for you to be grateful? Can you find the bright side of a dark situation? Do you “give thanks in all circumstances?” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)
In addition to doing your best to stay on The Hallelujah Diet this Thanksgiving, stop and think about all of the things you are thankful for. According to these gratitude studies, it may benefit you just as much as choosing alternatives to turkey and gravy.
Yes, The Right Salt Is Good For You
Nov 16th
Researchers at an American Heart Association conference have declared that if teens reduce their salt intake, they would lower the risk for heart disease and stroke as they age.
The comment was made in conjunction with news that teens consume more salt than any other age group: 3800 mg (9 grams) per day. That’s more than double the recommended amount.
Given those numbers, if teens cut their salt intake by just 3 grams a day, it would mean 44% to 63% fewer hypertensive teens and young adults, and 30% to 43% fewer hypertensive adults 35 to 50.
Keep in mind that regular, white, refined table salt is the kind of salt they’re talking about here. Unrefined sea salt is a completely different story. When consumed in moderation, grey sea salt, pink Himalayan salt, or any other type of unrefined salt has many benefits that regular table salt just doesn’t have.
You see, our bodies contain 70% water, but most people don’t know that it’s SALT water, much like the sea. Sea water actually has a mineral composition almost identical to human blood! Knowing this fact, it makes sense that naturally occurring, mineral-rich salt has great benefits for the body.
Unrefined, naturally-occurring salt can help reduce blood pressure, stabilize irregular heartbeats, cleanse the kidneys, help normalize brain chemicals, stop a dry cough, and serves as a strong antiseptic. It’s also used to help oxygenate the body, which helps kill cancer cells.
Here’s a weird one… salt is a natural hypnotic. Drink a glass of water at bedtime then put a few grains of salt on your tongue. Let it dissolve and you’ll fall into a natural, deep sleep.
In short, don’t eliminate salt – just make sure it’s the good stuff.
7 Simple Things To Prevent The Flu
Nov 11th
Flu season, shmoo season! Don’t let the flu shot hype trick you into thinking that somehow a vaccine is an effective prevention technique!
First of all, flu shot manufacturers fully admit the shot is only active for 90 days, but “flu season” can last for 6 months. Not to mention, you’d be left with a live virus in your bloodstream along with mercury and other toxins – still sound like a good idea?
By the way, did you know that over the last 100 years or so, diseases for which vaccines were introduced had almost disappeared BEFORE the vaccines were introduced? Turns out that gradually improving sanitary conditions were the real reason these diseases were eradicated, not vaccines – but we’ll leave that for another time.
Speaking of sanitary conditions, one of the 7 things you can do to prevent the flu naturally is to wash your hands. It’s that simple. Here are some other things you can do:
Get enough sleep
Your immune system functions much better when you get 8 hours per night.
Exercise regularly
Exercise helps keep your immune system strong.
Avoid sugar
Even small amounts of sugar can significantly impair your body’s ability to prevent a flu infection.
Drink lots of pure water
Water keeps your mucous membranes well-hydrated to help them fight off viruses.
Reduce stress
Prolonged stress is at least partially responsible for 90% of all illness and disease. Regular exercise helps reduce stress.
Eat immune-boosting foods
Brightly colored fruits and vegetables are packed with phytonutrients to strengthen your immune system.
You don’t need a flu shot when you provide your body with the conditions that allow your body to produce natural immunity!
What It Means To Reclaim Your Health
Nov 9th
What does it mean to “reclaim” your health? The concept of reclaiming excellent health is the core of what thousands of people have discovered when they adopt The Hallelujah Diet.
Once a person understands that God intended them to have good health and that the capacity to enjoy good health is built into their DNA, suddenly the light goes on! They realize that there is a healthy person inside of them waiting to be revealed (reclaimed).
All it takes to shed the old self and reclaim the good health God intended is to eat a diet of simple, plant-based foods and lead a health-promoting lifestyle.
Our desire to help people realize that they really can reclaim their health is the whole reason we created our free, internet-based video program, 60 Days to Reclaim Your Health.
Karen C. from Trenton, Ohio knows that reclaiming health is possible because she did it! Here’s her story…
“I want to say thanks for doing the 60 Days to Reclaim Your Health challenge. I have struggled all my life with binge eating and severe mood swings – (to the point where I thought I was bipolar), and have been overweight most of my life.
I felt convicted about gluttony and anger, and when I reached 210 lbs, I started to give up hope.
With the help of your videos, I purchased BarleyMax, began juicing all kinds of stuff I didn’t even think you could juice, and concentrated my efforts on eating living, colorful foods.
I have been on this diet for 4 1/2 months now. Within 3 months I lost 50 lbs, and have lost 10 more lbs since then, and have only 6 lbs to go before getting to my goal weight.
More importantly than that, the cycle of binge eating, dieting, depression, out of control anger and racing thoughts, has been broken by eating living food.
Hallelujah! I wanted to thank you as well for taking the time and putting forth the effort to make those videos. They are educational, motivational and light hearted.”

Make Life Simpler With A Salad Box
Nov 3rd
When you come home from work the last thing you want to do is chop up a bunch of veggies for a salad. We feel the same way, which is why we invented “The Salad Box.”
The salad box is a simple concept we created so that we could have pre-cleaned, pre-cut veggies ready to go whenever we wanted – and it’s all in one handy box that fits in our refrigerator. It brings the convenience of a salad bar into your own home! You know everything is fresh and cleaned… because you did it!
All you have to do is get a large, clear, plastic under-the-bed style storage box and several smaller boxes to fit inside. All your veggies will fit into the smaller boxes, one type of veggie per box. Put them all in the larger box and you have a mini salad bar ready to go in your own refrigerator.
We searched high and low for boxes that would fit inside an average refrigerator. The best, large box can be found at Target stores, and the little boxes that go inside are available at Walmart. Watch our salad box video for details.
Here’s how it works. Simply buy 4-5 days’ worth of veggies, seeds, nuts, water chestnuts or anything you’d normally put in salads, stir frys, or pita wraps. Designate an hour on one evening to wash and prepare all the ingredients and put them in the smaller boxes within the large salad box and you’ll have everything ready to go whenever you wish for several days and even up to an entire week!
The salad box saves a lot of time and makes dinner prep a lot less stressful. Watch part 1 and part 2 of our salad box videos for all the details! We also demonstrate this concept during our 60 Days to Reclaim Your Health program.

Marked Increase in Children’s Constipation
Nov 2nd
A recent news release from John Hopkins Children’s Center reports a 30% increase in the number of doctor visits related to constipation in children between 2008-2009.
Experts attribute the problem to lack of physical activity, inadequate water intake and fiber-poor diets. Medically, constipation is defined as having fewer than 3 bowel movements a week for 3, not necessarily consecutive, months in a year.
Obviously, if a child is on The Hallelujah Diet, even less than 1 or 2 bowel movements would be considered constipation in terms of achieving optimal health.
Maria Oliva-Hemker, M.D., director of pediatric Gastroenterology & Nutrition at Hopkins Children’s says that the condition is easy to miss in young children, and its severity is often overlooked, which results in delayed treatment and worsening symptoms.
Constipation is one of the easiest symptoms to correct with diet and exercise. Lack of fiber in refined grains often leads to constipation, while choosing high fiber foods helps correct the problem. When a person switches from the nearly fiberless Standard American Diet to the fiber-rich Hallelujah Diet, a diet loaded with natural plant fiber, they usually see their constipation problems, as well as digestive and colon problems, disappear.

33% Could Have Diabetes by 2050
Oct 28th
Like a scene of out of the sci-fi animated feature Wall-E, Americans are on track to be fattest, laziest group of human beings in history — and destined to be diagnosed with diabetes as a result, according to a report by the Centers for Disease Control (CDC).
“Successful programs to improve lifestyle choices on healthy eating and physical activity must be made more widely available because the stakes are too high and the personal toll too devastating to fail,” the report states in light of its projection that 1 in 3 Americans could have the preventable diabetes by 2050.
Diabetes is currently the leading cause of blindness among American adults under age 75. It is also the leading cause of kidney failure, and leg and foot amputations not caused by injury.
Ironically, the symptoms of type-2 diabetes are some of the easiest physical problems to overcome with diet and exercise. Start with something simple like eliminating coffee.
Why coffee? A report from the Netherlands showed that caffeine in coffee raises blood sugar levels — and that’s without any sugar or cream added. This study shows that caffeine raises blood sugar levels by causing the body to put out large amounts of adrenalin that makes cells less responsive to insulin. When caffeine was removed from the coffee, blood sugar levels did not rise higher than normal.
Can it really be as simple as changing what you eat and drink? Yes!! Through diet and exercise utilizing The Hallelujah Diet, many people have successfully empowered their immune systems to eliminate symptoms of diabetes. Check out these testimonies!
PS – Come join us for our “Where Do I Go From Here” class on Saturday, November 6 from 1:30 to 4:30 pm. Paul and Ann will personally show you how to implement The Hallelujah Diet at home. Register today!
